Sir S. Wilson.
the
I have discussed this with Mr. Cowell.
Unless the S. of S.'s minute of the 3rd July
is to read as an explicit instruction (and I
doubt whether it can so be read) I am definitely
against sending this report or its predecessor
to the Anti-Slavery Society at the present stage.
The reports are generally satisfactory
latest one highly satisfactory, I think - but
obviously they would supply material, on points
of detail, for further nagging by anti-slavery
zealots. If the Society wants more information,
let them write and ask for it. We have never
promised to keep them regularly posted, and
I can see no reason why we should take the
initiative in the matter.
Otherwise, as proposed.
